Winding Down Memorial Day Weekend in Charlevoix

Winding down Memorial Day Weekend in Charlevoix with a dinghy ride around the little island and an afternoon at anchor in Oyster Bay (below).

We drove up to Petoskey to visit our friend, Martin. Lunch at Whitecaps and a visit at Martin’s home.

Monday started with a Memorial Day parade and presentation at the bandshell. Nothing quite brings home the meaning of this holiday weekend more than the five gun salute to close the ceremonies.

On our daily walk we came across this ice shanty (below). Interesting!

Great photos, thanks for sharing! Your life on the water looks like a dream come true. What are some upgrades you’ve made to the Kismet to make it more long term cruiser friendly?

Thanks Perry. I guess you could say that we are both obsessed with boating and being on the water. The Ranger Tug R27 really comes with almost everything our bigger trawler had on it… just in a smaller package. Check out this article we wrote for Boat U.S., it covers a lot of the equipment Kismet has. We’ve only added minor things like shelf door covers. Let us know if you have any more questions.
