Making Our Way to McIntosh Bay – More Mountainous & Remote –

Jim picked McIntosh Bay, in Simoom Sound, because he had heard it is a favorite among boaters. The approach to the bay gave us a magnificent view of Mount Stephens, which slowly disappeared from our view as we got closer to shore to set the anchor.

Our Mode of Operation…

Some days, we just move a short way, anchor, and if needed, stern-tie. Then, we’ll spend the day, or days, soaking up the ambience of our surroundings. We spent most of those days taking photos, flying the drone, reading, writing, paddle-boarding, cooking, eating, and playing Mah Jongg.

Other days, we’ll spend the whole day exploring by cruising up the cavernous coastal fjords, taking photos and videos as we go. We do this while looking for whales and dolphins playing or fishing as they make their way through an area. Another activity we enjoy while exploring is watching for bears that travel down to the shoreline looking for food at low tide. We figure this is the best way for us to experience the archipelago and see a lot more during our limited time while in the islands.
