Burdwood Group and Kingcome Tour Ends at Stopford Bay

Anchorage Found After Cruising Burdwood Group and Kingcome Inlet –
After lunch at the Burdwood Group and ending our tour of Kingcome Inlet, we scurried to find an anchorage before darkness settled in around us. We decided on Stopford Bay, off Mount Waddington on the central coast of British Columbia, in the southeast corner of Cypress Harbour. The next day, we planned to cruise to Sullivan Bay Marina first thing in the morning.
Because we had little information on this area, we cautiously entered Cypress Harbour, looking for a suitable spot to anchor. We heard some concerns about shoals and old cables from old logging operations that we should avoid. Other boats occupied all the suitable spots to anchor near Blount Point. So we continued on and eventually turned into a channel, which took us around Roffey Point, past Duck Inlet, and into Stopford Bay. We cruised past several old buildings and remnants of past commercial logging or industrial fish farms in Cypress Harbour. It was a long, winding way into the anchorage, but it got more and more scenic as we got further in. The bay’s classic PNW geography and tidal bay, which create diverse marine habitats, are conducive to expansive intertidal zones.
Another quiet night in the scenic Broughton Islands.

Stopford Bay (above and below) was calm, serene, and perfect for a one-night stay before heading to Sullivan Bay the next morning.
