East Of Eden Anchorage – Also Known As Lady Boot Cove –

We are now cruising in the central part of the Broughton Archipelago Marine Provincial Park. I’d have to say that our anchorage in East of Eden, in the northeast corner of Eden Island and adjacent to Eden Pool, has been my favorite so far. We shared a three-day stay with a Meridan trawler and a sailboat. It is a very scenic spot and another one where, at low-tide, the rocks reflected themselves in the smooth, glassy waters below. We’ve had sun and fog on and off during our stay. With the reflection of the rocks on the water, the intermittent fog, and the sunlight, it was a photographer’s delight.

We’re excited to share with you that we finally had a brief bear sighting here. It was a few hours after dinner, and I was just heading down to the “palatial” V-berth to join Jim and watch a movie. I was grabbing a few things to take down with me, while also commenting, “Well, I guess the bears do not want to grace us with their presence.” Not one second later, after I said that, while scanning the shore one last time, lo and behold, a big black bear came out from under the cedar boughs. It lingered a few seconds before heading back into the dense, dark woods. I got a photo (below), but not a very good one.

I can’t believe we have had such wonderful weather. Most days of cruising, or at anchor, are sporting calm, glassy water. I guess you could say that I am obsessed with the rock formations we cruise by or anchor in. Mother Nature creates the only entertainment we need while on the water.
